15
AND 17 YEAR OLD ROCK PHENOMS STAND UP FOR THIER FREEDOM IN
NEW SONG 'BATTLEFIELD'
Brothers Collin and Stuart Blount of the band Runaway
Hudson began playing music together as young boys
bringing their cello and bass into the kitchen of their
house for “kitchen concerts.” Collin’s love for the
drums took precedence over the cello when he got his first
drum set at age 10. Stuart soon followed suit with his
love for the guitar at age 9. Their “kitchen concerts”
took on a new level of decibel and were rapidly relocated
to the basement.
They began recording as Runaway
Hudson at Subcat Studios in Skaneateles, NY at the
ages of 15 and 17. The first song on the CD,
Battlefield, was the beginning of a three-year
project that they worked on while completing high school. Battlefield
is a song about standing up for what you believe in. They
also worked for their father’s business to earn money to
pay for their endeavor.
Collin and Stuart were homeschooled, and one of their
favorite studies in history was WWII, which was the
inspiration for two of the songs on the CD, See
You Soon, and Off
To War. OffTo War’s
inspiration was a book written by a marine who fought on
Iwo Jima. The song has an authentic 1940’s sound with
expert guitar riffs and beautiful backing vocals.
Two other songs on the CD were a collaboration with a
fellow homeschooled friend from Texas who wrote, Just
Like In The Movies, and Dance
Floor, and then came to Skaneateles, NY to
record them with Runaway
Hudson.
The boys sister, Alyssa, a classically trained
violinist, performed on two recordings making it a true
family affair.
Collin and Stuart’s desire to write and record
upbeat, meaningful music that people of all ages can enjoy
has resulted in their self-titled CD, Runaway
Hudson, with a variety and flavor bound to
catch you humming or singing along. There is truly
something for everyone on the recordings.
