'Black & Blue' portrays a physically violent & abusive situation in relationships. The effects, the confusion & the internal struggle of a woman physically assaulted by her partner and the reality of being abused & going through the motions of dealing with this experience. This song was specifically written after Mark's sister was physically assaulted by her partner to a very brutal degree - Mark simply reacted as he only could through song. Black & Blue is dedicated to all the people who find themselves in this kind of situation and hoping that the realization that help is only an arms reach away.
